Green Isle Foods is part of the third largest food company in the United Kingdom, the 2 Sisters Food Group. Green Isle Foods is the largest frozen food producer in Ireland having been established in 1982 and are leaders in a number of categories including frozen pizza, fish, pastries, vegetables and potatoes. They have a range of renowned brand leaders such as Goodfella’s, Donegal Catch, San Marco, Galway Pie & Pastry and, of course, Green Isle, as well as producing a wide range of private label products supplied to leading retailers at home and abroad.
Green Isle have four manufacturing facilities in Ireland, Naas in Co. Kildare, Gurteen in Co. Sligo, Portumna in Co. Galway and Longford in Co. Longford supporting 650 jobs. All four of these facilities have BRC accreditation and approval from the Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. In addition, the Longford facility also has IFS approval.
The facility in Longford is the base for production of Goodfella’s and San Marco frozen pizza products. These products are marketed throughout the globe and include bespoke products catering for religious beliefs i.e. Halal and Kosher, and the gluten and lactose free markets.
As owners of a number of market leading brands, Green Isle Foods are constantly looking at innovative ways of progressing their business focusing on the highest of manufacturing standards and provision of the highest quality foodstuffs for their customers and ultimate consumers.
Green Isle Foods approach to production ensures they procure supplies which only come from approved sustainable sources and contain no genetically modified products. Suppliers are required to provide evidence of such. Working closely with the Environment Protection Agency, Green Isle Foods are involved in numerous schemes to reduce waste. Their efforts in relation to sustainability have been recognised over the years achieving awards such as the Repak Best Packaging Reduction Initiative Award 2010 amongst others.
